- Tony Zingale President and Chief Operating Officer | |
Why Did You Join Mercury?
Tony: To help build one of the top-five software companies in the world. After being on the board for the past few years it has become clear to me that Mercury has a unique opportunity, and I wanted to take a more active role in the company. Most major IT organizations are investing in new strategies and technologies to optimize the business value of IT. As the global leader in Business Technology Optimization (BTO), Mercury is positioned to become one of a select few vendors who are strategic partners to CIOs and IT executives globally.
What Is Your Focus At Mercury?
Tony: Building on the company’s track record of customer success as well as making it the best place to work in the industry. Mercury has a long history of building great products, high quality software, and an unrelenting commitment to making customers successful. Mercury also has the most talented people I’ve met in my career.
Where is Mercury Going in 2005 and Beyond?
Tony: Mercury has been one of the fastest-growing technology companies in the world. Mercury’s results have been superior in an environment where most software companies have been struggling. Our plans are to build the people, processes, and technologies required to scale Mercury into one of the world’s top software companies, while continuing to deliver business value to our customers and partners.
What Are Mercury’s Biggest Strengths?
Tony: Mercury is a winning company. This team is committed to producing results. This is a company that wins by focusing on people, technology, innovation, and customers.
What Is Your Take On Business Technology Optimization?
Tony: BTO could well become one of the most important ideas in IT history. 90 percent of business processes are enabled by software applications and often, 50 percent of capital spending is on information technology. Technology has become the core of most major enterprises. Therefore optimizing the business value of IT has become one of the most important issues facing global enterprises and government organizations. It has become imperative that CIOs invest in optimizing the quality, performance, and availability of the applications that the business depends on. Additionally, the need for IT Governance has never been stronger. Managing and governing the priorities, processes, projects, and budgets of IT are critical if you want to lower costs and increase the return on IT. These factors make BTO a critical strategy for customers and partners.
